Description
Summary:Extended Elastic Impedance (EEI) method which is generalization of Elastic Impedance (EI) and Acoustic Impedance (AI), has been applied to 3D seismic data of A field which is carbonate reservoir saturated with gas.

Poisson Impedance (PI) parameter which is derived based on P and S‐impedance from well data, is estimated with EEI at angle 25o and used to characterize gas distribution at this field. Decision to use this attribute is made after looking at sensitivity analysis result. From sensitivity analysis, it is seen that carbonate rocks which is saturated with gas associates with PI parameter for maximum value at 2000 (m/s)*(g/cc) or equal with EEI for maximum value at 8500 (m/s)*(g/cc).

Model based inversion technique is used to make 3D cube of EEI 25o from 3D seismic data. The result of PI inversion gives image of lateral distribution from carbonate reservoir saturated with gas.
