Manufacturing route for aluminum foam has been developed long time ago and each route has advantages and disadvantages. In this research melt based process is used. This process offer low production cost and high production rate. Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3) as foaming agent has show good remark with low price and not a rare earth compound. Effect of % weight CaCO3, foaming temperature and time on density of aluminum bulk are investigated in this research. 3.5 % CaCO3 with foaming temperature 750OC for 15 minutes has been found to be the most effective parameters. The stability of cell is found caused by network oxide layers formed on precursors. Mechanism of CaCO3 as foaming agent are discussed and proofed in this research. <br /> text |
