Supply chain in the construction industry is composed of various parties which are related to the procurement and purchase process. This research aims to understand quality assurance process in construction industry supply chain that involves contractor group and labor group. The process is required to complete internal and external customer satisfaction in the quality of work process and result. In this case the project owner is customer. Survey to structure building construction projects is conducted to gather data. The case studies are located in Bandung Hypothesis model was developed from past research, formulated for guiding the survey of supply chain construction project. Data is collected using semi-structured depth interview to respondents from first level down to fourth level in projects supply chain. Respondent contractors for this research are contractors who have ISO 9001:2000 certificate. Quality assurance process starts from customer who defines quality requirement in specification and design to supplier. The next step of the process is when the supplier conducts several quality assurance steps in order to achieve customer satisfaction. The last step of the process is controlling the product quality by customer. The observation result shows that there are four basic elements required to assume the quality of the product: defining project scope, specking features and baseline system, build product, and deliver product to customer. To implement these elements, twelve steps need to be completed by the supply chain parties in order to accomplish quality assurance process. The process in the field is found to be very similar with those of ISO 9001:2000. text |
