The existence of this fault became very important because this fault crossed the densely-populated settlement and tourism area. Up to now, the level of the activity of this fault was still in matter of debate due to the insufficient of seismicity data and history resulted by the activation of this fault.
One of the approaches to determine the level of the activity of the Lembang Fault is morphotectonic analysis. Morphometry analysis comprise of hypsometric curve, ratio of valley floor width to valley height, stream length-gradient index, drainage basin asymmetry.
Results of the morphometry analysis and sagpond stratigraphy showed that the Lembang Fault is interpreted as an active fault. The western part showed higher level of activity than the eastern part.
Result of the morphometry analysis and sagpond stratigraphy showed that the Lembang Fault is interpreted as a normal fault where the north block (hangingwall) relatively downthrown than the south block (footwall).
Lembang Fault showed the existence of the segment of the fault that divided the Lembang Fault into two segments. The segment limit was around the Cihideung River next west the Lembang City. The distribution of these segments was based on the pattern shown by the morphometry, stratigraphy sagpond, and the level of the activity text |
