Flood is a natural disaster which needs a serious attention to minimize its negative impact. When flood occurred, a phenomenon happen where discharge, water level and stream velocity reach the maximum value which not at the same time. <br />

To prove and show the phenomenon hence at this research an unsteady flow model constructively flume was made in the Hydraulic Laboratory, Civil Engineering Department, Bandung Institute of Technology. To support this research, besides physical model, one dimension numerical model is also being used with the result of physical model as a boundary condition. <br />
<br />
The result of physical model and numerical model is stream speed reaches the maximum point beforehand, later then discharge reaches the maximum point and water level reaches the last maximum point. Value of one dimension numerical model result is not far different with value of the physical model. One dimension numerical model not only done for the rectangular shape, but also done for the channel with trapezium shape with inclination z = 1 and z = 2. This matter is done to see effect of different channel shape. With identical boundary condition, roughness coefficient and width bottom channel, discharge of the channel with trapezium shape with inclination z = 2 is bigger than discharge of the channel with trapezium shape with inclination z = 1 and discharge of the channel with rectangular shape. This is because trapezium with inclination z = 2 channel shape owning larger wetted area compare to trapezium with inclination z = 1 channel shape and rectangular channel shape. |
