Summary: | This research describes that information and communication technology adoption process involves various actors, technical artifacts and relationship among them. This research attempts to explain how these relationship patterns among actors and technical artifacts form a socio-technical configuration which then describes how conception and adoption patterns are built in this presented case.<p>Further, researcher attempts to describe how negotiations occur, not only among relevant actors, but also among them and relevant technical artifacts, in the building process of conception and adoption of information and communication technology. Rooms for these actors and technical artifacts to negotiate are then built. Researcher then explains how these rooms influence adoption pattern of a technology. One of the issues to raise in this matter is: does democracy in adoption of technology, which is relevant with these actors to negotiate, influence technolocy adoption pattern.<p>This research was carried out to two information technology adoption cases in rural area. Both cases are technology adoption case in one of projects of Cinta Mekar Village, Subang Regency, West Java Province, performed by Pusat Penelitian Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi ITB; and a community initiative project, carried out by an NGO named Sekolah Rakyat, in Limbangan Village, Kendal Regency, Central Java Province. <br />
