Comparison of Concentration and Temperature Effect Versus Flow Time On Nonionic and Anionic Surfactant in Capillary Pipe (Laboratory Study)

One of the efforts to increase oil gain is by using EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery) method, this method increase recovery factors by improving displacement and volumetric sweep efficiency. Surfactant is one example of substance that can be injected into the well. It is an active substance that can decre...

Surfactant is one example of substance that can be injected into the well. It is an active substance that can decrease surface tension between oil and formation water so it will decrease oil saturation that is trapped inside rock pores. Surfactant concentration and various reservoir temperature has a great influence on the result of injection process. This issue is related with the wettability form surfactant with reservoir pores. In this experiment, Nonionic-14A and Anionic-17B surfactant were used and tested in five different concentration and three different temperature. The experiments were done in capillary pipe – Oswald Viscometer – in two different capillary diameters. The experiment result shows different flow time. Every surfactant solution has critical concentration where the experiment result gives slowest flow time. This experiment result shows that surfactant concentration addition will change wettability of glass pipe. These results conclude that surfactant concentration and temperature has influence on surfactant utilizing efficiency. text
