This research was done to examine antifungal activity of ethanol extracts of castor seeds, urang-aring leaves and its combination against Malassezia sp. using agar dillution method and Minimum Inhibition Concentration (MIC) examination. It was also tested the irritation effect of that extract to skin and eye by acute dermal and eye irritation examination to rabbit. Ethanol extracts of castor seeds, urang-aring leaves and its combination had shown antifungal activity against Malassezia sp. The MIC of ethanol extract of castor seeds was 50 ug/mL and urang-aring leaves was 0.5 ug/mL against Malassezia sp. The combination of both extracts had shown additive activity against Malassezia sp. At 40 time dose of each MIC, castor seeds and its combination with urang-aring leaves practice did not irritate rabbit's eye and did not irritate rabbit's skin, otherwise urang-aring leaves did not irritate rabbit's eye and skin, so it can be developed potentially as one of the alternative treatments for dandruff. text
