Description
Summary:The use of zeolite as an adsorbent for removal of textile dyes from aqueous solution was investigated. In this research, adsorption capacity of natural zeolite and activated zeolite were compared. For the activated zeolite, natural zeolite was drowned in 3M H2SO4 solution, followed by washing until pH reached to neutral. The effects of contact time, addition H2SO4 solution, temperature and variety of initial concentration on the sorption process were examined. The adsorption isotherm was well fitted to Freundlich model. The addition of 0.2 M H2SO4 solution in 7 hours contact time gave adsorption capacity of activated zeolite and natural zeolite at dyes solution concentration of 200 ppm of 1.60 mg dyes/g zeolite and 1.50 mg dyes/g zeolite, respectively.
