Development of computer and Internet technology have an impact on the community in accessing and sharing information. The emergence of web log technology or blog raises trends of writing and publishing that brings the opportunity of reusing existing content for another writing purposes. This thesis tries to take the opportunity by asking a research question about which forms of content that can be reused and how to integrate it with the writing process to build a collaborative writing system based on content reuse. Based on the Hevner et all research framework, this research began by analyzing the researches related to the content reuse and collaborative writing systems model that generate research requirement to fill the gap between the domain of collaborative writing system and content reuse. The study continued by identifying the characteristics of collaborative writing system and reuse behavior to form constructs that elaborated to definition of collaborative writing system and content reuse elements. To model the whole system, elements of content reuse then mapped into the system as a collaborative writing system modeling framework. The study then continued by the modeling system based on defined elements that form of system entities that produces models which consist of participant model, object models, tools models, and support system models. To complete the models, process are modeled based on defined elements that form of processes and activities to establish methods that consist of models of collaborative writing process and mechanism of the system. The result is content reuse based collaborative writing systems models in unity that is in the scope of requirement level and capability level in DARPA collaborative system framework perspective. Model then evaluated through a descriptive scenario approach to assess usability and to establish final conclusion. From the overall research, it can be stated that the concept of content reuse can be applied to various activities or stages of collaborative writing, and models that have built are able to accommodate requirements of collaborative writing process and the process of content reuse, although this models still lacking in terms of support for the coordination strategy and division of roles of participants. Thus, this thesis is expected to contribute by filling the gap in collaborative writing and content reuse research, and by provide a reference to develop a collaborative writing system based on the concept of content reuse.
