Summary: | Information and communication technology can be used in education as an effective learning tool. Three dimension (3d) interactive e-learning software offers a flexible, anytime, anywhere learning and interactivity for student, so learning process can be more meaningful.
Mathematics is an abstract subject, so teachers have to use right method to teach this subject. They need to use right model and right learning media. 3d interactive e-learning software can be used as an alternative learning media for this purpose.
In this research, it will be designed, implemented and tested an interactive e-learning using game and 3d animation. Game and 3d animation designed and implemented for Geometry, one of an item in Junior High School Mathematics' subject. The software designed and implemented has been tested for Junior High School's students to measure its effectiveness as a learning media. Respondents are divided into two groups, the first group as experiment (treatment) group, and the other as control group.
Both of the groups do pretest before taught by different way. Students in experiment group are taught using game and animation. In other hand, students in control group are taught by conventional way. At the end of this learning, both of the groups are tested again (posttest). Beside posttest, respondents in experiment group gave their perception about the software (game and animation).
The result of this research indicates that there is a significant difference in score gain between respondents in experiment group and respondents in control group. Also, many of respondents in experiment group agree that using game and animation for learning is interesting. So, this software can be used as an alternative learning media.
