Summary: | The existing bottom water drive mechanism in field X makes new method needed to get better results in hydrocarbon recovery. Because it has a longer contact area with the reservoir, horizontal wells generally has a smaller pressure drop for a certain given rate compared with vertical wells. Horizontal wells can be operated with the same given rate as conventional wells, but with less occurrence of water coning. In addition, the existing of fractures in a reservoir makes horizontal wells into higher consideration by the oil industry, because it can be designed to get around with limitations and changes in lateral as well as vertical continuity. To obtain the maximum oil yield value, placement of horizontal wells will gives a significant influence, because of the depletion areas which are associated with the horizontal wells. And also to increase recovery, the combination of horizontal wells could be an alternative. From all case studies, 4 cases show results of the best placement for horizontal wells selected based on the increasing overall oil recovery from the field. After deciding all 4 priority placement for the horizontal well based on oil recovery incremental, the combination of the wells are made. From the result of horizontal wells combination, the most optimum oil recovery of is a combination of priority 1 and priority 3, which increased the actual oil recovery by 2.58% or as much as 2.49 MMSTB. And the degree of interference generated is about 0.137. From this study, increasing oil recovery in X field using horizontal wells either by using single horizontal well or a several combination of horizontal wells can be considered as a future plans. |
