Summary: | AbstractField X has five production wells which produce heavy oil from the same reservoir. The produced oil from each wells are flowed to the gathering station (GS) by production pipes. A common problem in this surface facilities is the decreasing of flow rate in the wells and gathering station, it is caused by the obstacles in transmission pipe called bottlenecking. Bottlenecking appears because of the worse production pipe design. Nowadays, there is no parameter index that explain the measurement of bottlenecking in a piping network.
The objective of this paper is to analyze bottlenecking problem, among influence of flow index to bottlenecking problem, to optimize the piping network design, and to determine the bottlenecking parameter. The simulation method is used at field X model. The simulation begins by observe the effects of diameter size and pipe length from the wellhead to GS, it is use to have the optimal pipe design. Beside that, to analyze the relationship between decreasing of pressure and bottlenecking, and to determine the bottleneck index is also done.
The result from simulation showed that the optimal piping network design is influence by flow index. The biggest value of flow index nearest to GS makes the fluids flow easier and increasing bottleneck index value. Bottleneck index is a value that explain the measurement of bottlenecking in a piping network. In this study, the best BNI value is 0.968. In Field X, bottleneck index will decrease by the increasing of production time. It is showed in decreasing of pressure versus BNI plot. |
