During the service life of transformer oil, deterioration of the oil occurs because of many conditions such as Impurities, water contents, dissolved gasses, acidities, furans, varying temperatures and catalysts, which all may reduce the quality of the oil.<p> This final project analyzed about impacts of transformer loading and oil operating time to the dielectric, physical, and chemical characteristics of transformer oil. Experiments were conducted by using samples of transformer oil obtain directly from online transformers and transformer workshop. The author used Shell Diala B oils with various levels of operating time and transformer loading as samples. This final project was conducted at DGA Laboratory, P.T. PLN Persero UJT Bandung, High Voltage and Current Engineering Laboratory, Department of Electrical Engineering and at Analytical Chemistry Laboratory, Department of Chemistry, Bandung Institute of Technology.<p>The experiments showed that oil operating time and transformer loading greatly affected the qualities of dielectric (such as electrical breakdown strength, dissipation factor and relative permittivity) physical (such as color and viscosity) and chemical (such as neutralization number, water content and oil structure) properties of transformer oil. Another result showed that the concentration of combustible gasses increased as well as the increased of transformer oil operating time and loading. text
