Summary: | Information Technology (IT) is now increasingly important in supporting business process of an organization, but IT management is not apart from important role of Human Resources (HR) factor as one of primary factors in implementing organizational business process. Therefore, HR of IT quality greatly determines the success of IT role in supporting organizational business process. Competency is a combination between knowledge, skill, behavior and attitude that gives a plus value for personal effectiveness, relative to its work responsibility, becomes one of important factors as measuring standard of HR quality of an organization. Therefore, competency should be accurately and correctly formulated in order that competent owned by HR component to be in accordance with the organizational demands in implementing its business process. Chief Information Officer (CIO) as one of HR components in organizational structure of IT has a very important role in IT management in order to reach organization's objectives. Consequently, CIO must be insisted to have a competency which is in accordance with development course of IT in organization so that IT management can be carried out in line with organization's objectives. CIO competency arranging is realized through 5 steps, specifically: (I) analyzing IT role in organization; (2) determining CIO position in organization structure based on IT role analysis in organization; (3) arranging job description of CIO in organization based on CIO's position in organization structure and IT role in organization (4) mapping competency requirement for CIO's function based on job description which has been arranged and (5) performing validation test towards result of the competency mapping. |
