Description
Summary:This research area has complex geology setting due to impact process of two main active plate that move simultaneously, they are Australia Continental Plate that relatively move nortward and Pacific Ocean Plate that relatively move south-westward. The research area included into Kemum Block, Sorong Fault system and Tamrau Block based on geology province at Sorong region. Granite Rock Unit had been found in the southern of area on Kemun Block which is part of Australian micro-continent. Andesite Rock Unit had been found in the Northern of area on Tamrau Block which is part of Pasific Plate. Contact between these units were formed because Sorong Fault Zone System in the Early Pliocene Sorong Fault Zone System formed Complex Rock Unit, E – W Rafidin Fault (sinistral-up) in the northern of the study area and E – W Klabala Fault (sinistral-up) in the northern of the study area. This Complex Rock Unit is consisted of serpentinite, slate, sandstone, claystone, granite, and andesite. Some of these fragments had been form in differ area and after that brought by the activity of the Sorong Fault. Sandstone Rock Unit was formed in the southern of area in the Early Pliocene – Late Pliocene from weathering material of Granite Rock Unit and Complex Rock Unit in the land environment. Papua tectonic is still active until now and formed N – S Remu Fault (dextral-up) which cut Granite Rock Unit, Andesite Rock Unit, Complex Rock Unit, Sandstone Rock Unit, Rafidin Fault, and Klabala fault. Coastal, Swamp and Alluvial Deposit Unit is formed because erosion and sedimentation processes in recent time.
