Summary: | This research area consists of three geomorphologic units. Those units are Homoclinal Hills Unit which covers southern part of research area, Intrusive Hills Unit which covers centre part of research area, and Complex Hills which covers northern part of study area. Geologically, research area consists of 3 blocks: Kemum Blocks, Tamrau Blocks, and Sorong Fault System. Both of the blocks are located in Papua’s Bird Head Region. Those area are divided into 6 (six) unofficial lithology units: Granite Unit, Andesite Unit, Complex Rocks Unit, Sandstone Unit, Conglomerate Unit, and Alluvium Unit. Structural geology setting which developed in research area represented by W-E trending sinistral strike-slip fault and N-S trending sinistral normal fault. Structural geology setting development in Late Miocene formed sinistral strike-slip fault in Papua. Those faults dislocated some of the lithology units from other area and shown fault contact between the lithology units as Sorong Fault System became activated. Granite Unit is the oldest unit which formed in Trias, Andesite Unit was formed in Miocene, and Complex Rocks Unit was formed in Early Pliocene. All of those units has fault contact between each other, which caused of active Sorong Fault System. Then, Sandstone Unit deposited unconformably and followed the deposition of Conglomerate Unit in Quaternary above older unit. Alluvium Unit deposited unconformably above other units and its coverage area is limited around drainage area of primary river. |
