Those geomorphologic units are the early stage folded mountains unit, the medium stage folded mountains unit and the alluvial plain unit. All the stages of the research area are situated on medium and mature stage. Regionally, the research area belongs to Tidung Sub-basin which lies in Tarakan Basin. The stratigraphy of research area is equal to Tabul Formation and Sajau Formation. Those Formations are divided into four informal units which are formed since Late Miocene up to recent. These units are: Sandstone-conglomeraticsandstone, sandstone-claystone, sandstone and alluvial deposits. The geological structure which is dominated in the research area can be determine from the lineament and other features that be interpreted from aerial image, topographic map and SRTM image. Structures that can be inferred by those features are the NW-SE thrust fault and folds. Generally, the depositional environments of the research area have shown the influence of delta on delta front, delta plain and channel. text
