Summary: | Geomorphological units of the research area can be divided into five units, namely: Homoclinal Ridge Unit, Karst Unit, Anticlinal Ridge Unit, Synclinal Ridge Unit and Anticlinal Valley Unit. There are three unofficial lithological units at the research area, namely (from the oldest to the youngest): Claystone Unit, Sandstone-Siltstone Unit and Limestone Unit. Several geological structures are occurred in the research area, namely a fold with northeast-southwest trend and a strike slip fault with west – east trend. Geological history of the study area began in the Early Miocene with Claystone Unit deposited in the outer neritic environment. After that, Sandstone- Siltstone Unit was deposited in the late Early Miocene to Middle Miocene in the pro-delta transitional environment. The Sandstone-Siltstone Unit was deposited conformably on Claystone Unit. At the time of deposition of Sandstone-Siltstone Unit progresses, The Unit Limestone also was deposited in shallow marine environments. After the deposition of sediment occurs and all the rock units are formed, resulting in structural deformation occurred folds. This structure is estimated to occur in the Pliocene-Pleistocene was influenced by regional tectonic processes, that was Kuching High uplift. |
