Summary: | Geological in Mangkalihat mountain area has spread of limestone that large enough and really interesting to study including its diagenesis product. The research area is located at 50N 696.000m-701.000m and 101.000m-106.000m, area on East Kutai District, East Kalimantan with area 25 km2 (5 km x 5 km). Geomorphology of study area has certain patterns, such as patterns of hills, plain and valley with straightnessof the river and river flow patterns that controlled by structure and lithology. Geomorphology unit in this area consists of three units, namely: Karst Hills Unit, Karst Highland Unit, and Homoclinal Valley Unit. From old to young, stratigraphically this area is divided into three lithostratigraphy unit, namely Reef Limestone Unit characterized by whitish yellow limestone lithology with large foraminifera component which is equal with Lembak Formation, Calcarenite Limestone Unit characterized by Pliocene interbedded of limestone with Pliocene marl and equal with Golok Formation, and Marl Unit characterized by Pliocene marl lithology and has interfingering relation with Calcarenite Limestone Unit and equal with Golok Formation. Alluvial deposit is discover in this tudy area but not mapable. Geological structures in this study area consists of thrust fault and strike-slip. There are Mangkalihat Mt. Thrust Fault, Mangkalihat Mt. Strike Slip Fault and KM- 31 Strike Slip Fault. The faults is created by Plio-Plesitosen Deformation. Diagenesis product in this study area is analyzed from limestone petrographical thin section, consists of microbial micrititation, dissolution, cementation, and neumorfism. From the products above, the conclusion is, limestone iagenesis environtment consists of marine phreatic, meteoric phreatic, and meteoric vadose. |
