Description
Summary:The purpose of this research is to understand the geology setting of the research area based on geomorphology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and the geological history. The research methods are collecting the primary data by do mapping in the research area and analyzing both primary and secondary data in the laboratories. The geomorphology of the research area can be divided into five units: Synclinal Hills, Block Faulted Hills, Karst Hills, Intrusion Hill, and Alluvium Land. The flow pattern of the rivers in the research area are rectangular and parallel. The stratigraphy of the research area consist of seven lithologic units, from oldest to youngest: limestone unit, granite unit, claystone unit, conglomerate unit, sandstone – claystone unit, sandstone unit, and alluvium deposit. Structural geology of the research area that developed are fault and fold. The fault can be divided into three different faults: strike – slip fault trending north – south, strike – slip fault trending northeast – southwest, and reverse fault trending northwest – southeast. The research area has a complex geology setting that controlled the distribution of the lithologic units. The major force of the research area trending northeast – southwest that correlated to the recent pattern of Sumatra’s subduction.
