Summary:The cropping pattern is plant sequence on the land during a year, including land management time. The implementation of the cropping pattern of a technical irrigation area in a year is usually performed based on Decree of local Regional Head. In addition to the consideration to support the national food policy, the determination of the cropping pattern is also made based on the water availability factor and farmer's aspiration. The irrigation area of Batang Tongar, which has a functional area by 6,644 Ha, has adequate water potency and majority farmers possessing a character of performing the paddy-paddy cropping patern (2 times a year) as well as traditional of former does not go to the field during Ramadan, so that the agricultural productivity in the irrigation area of Batang Tongar is perceived to be decreased. From such farmer's aspiration. Hence, it is necessarily conducted a study of cropping patern in order that it can be made as a recommendation for the cultivation of Batang Tongar irrigation area. This study is dealing with the identification of available cropping patern and water need, the analyzing of reliable discharge, the analyzing of the available water need, the analyzing of the manpower, agricultural equipment and unhulled paddy price, as well as farmer's social condition in the irrigation area of Batang Tongar. From the analyzing of the analyzing of the available cropping pattern, it indicates that the cropping pattern performed currently (paddy-paddy) is due to the lack of manpower and agricultural equipment as well as social condition, that is the farmer has a custom not to work in the rice field during fasting month. To handle such problem, we must need peasant mechanism as effort to anticipate decrease of manpower. In addition to increase human resource at Batang Tongar irrigation are, therefore who provides elucidation and training is very required. <br />
