Summary: | The Tompaso geothermal field is located 30 kilometers southern part of Manado, North Sulawesi, or 10 kilometers southern part of Lahendong geothermal field. Exploration activities in this field has entered the development stage with three exploration wells and five development wells. The research area is located inside Tondano Caldera which has a diameter of about 20 km. Lithology of the study area is composed by volcanic rocks of Tertiary and Quaternary age. Tertiary rocks are the product of Lembeyan complex. It is consist of lava and pyroclastic breccia. Quaternary rocks consist of Tondano Tuff Unit and some Quaternary Volcanic Rock Units. Tompaso is a geothermal field with water dominated reservoir systems related to volcanic systems. Heat sources in the study area probably derived from residual activity of Sempu Volcano. Based on geochemical data, the upflow zone were located on the Northeast of Sempu Volcano. Furthermore, geothermal fluid flow to the northeast toward the Lake Tondano. Cap rocks thickness of about 800 meters, characterized by the alteration of clay minerals and linear temperature gradients. Reservoir zone below the cap rocks with temperatures up to 299 ° C. Temperature profile at reservoir zone indicates reversal temperature gradient, a relatively constant and decreased at a certain depth. |
