| Summary: | Cephalosporin is the common antibiotic used in women's surgery ward (Ruang 2) Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung Hospital. In order to improve the quality of cephalosporin use in Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung Hospital, the Drug Use Evaluation (DUE) program was designed to ensure that drugs are used appropriately, safely, and effectively. The research was carried out on 160 patients and 543 prescriptions in Ruang 2 Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung Hospital using retrospective data, from January-March 2008. The data was collected from medical records, nurse's records, and interview with health care professionals. Results showed the presence of 52 cases of synergic antibiotic combination, 65 cases of pharmacodynamic drug interaction, 1 case of pharmacokinetic drug interaction, 14 cases of inappropriate use duration, 13 cases of inappropriate dosage, and 2 cases of drug resistance. It can be concluded that there are cases of inappropriateness of cephalosporin use in women's surgery ward, Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung Hospital which comprise 14 cases of inappropriate use duration, 13 cases of inappropriate dosage, and 2 cases of use resistant drug. |
