Description
Summary:Sumatera is one of places in Indonesia with the highest tectonic activity in the world. This situation has led to an alteration of the island's position, caused by the subduction between Eurasian and Hindia-Australian plates with yearly speed approximately 49mm (Prawirodirdjo, 2000). The subduction has resulted in the existence of an active fault in Sumatera, which divided into some segments, one of them is Aceh segment (Aceh fault).
The research was done by observing some observed point that exist at the length of Aceh fault, either continue or periodic point. Data processing by using Bernese 5.0, Matlab software, resulted in point displacement vector around 3-13 cm towards south west.
Defomation analysis in this final project is made for indicating the pattern of fault defomation system, and for counting the slip rate and the locking depth. According to the calculation, the Aceh velocity speed is approximately 18-39 mm yearly and locked at the depth around 10 km. This kind of analisys is also advantageous for predicting the earthquake power around the fault for the long term.
