Description
Summary:Non-tidal river is part of river area that the water is not affected by tidal effects. In order to be used for shipping activity, river depth information is absolutely necessary to conform to the draft vessels used. Depth information requires a reference so called river chart datum. The study was conducted to determine the value of non-tidal river chart datum. The data used are secondary data from the observation of non-tidal river water level in Mahakam River. There are two water level observation stations (Melak and Kota Bangun). Data were obtained from Research and Development Center of Water Resources. To obtain the value of chart datum, a year of water level observation is needed to acquire the seasonal factor that affected the river water. Due to IHO specification, the lowest water level (LW) of the observations used as chart datum in the river area. Chart datum value obtained for the observation station Melak is 3,07 meter, Kota Bangun is 6,37 meter. The chart datum values are referenced to gauge observation.
