Summary: | Uncertainty occurs in our life and brings risks to what we expect for the future. One

thing we could do to control these risks is by transferring it into an insurance company. A person whose name is in the contract would put in a claim for her/his right.

The condition in which a person may claim continuously is called persistence. This

feature is discussed in this thesis. The detail about persistence is studied through

some stochastic processes namely Markov Chain and Integer-Valued Autoregressive

First Order or INAR(1) of Al Osh an Alzaid.

In Markov Chain, the probability of claim is made or not in the future time, conditional on past and present claim situation, depends only on what claim situation

is at present time. Meanwhile, an INAR(1) process is a counting process where

number of claims for future time is the sum of number of claims at present time and

claims that come between present and future times. Persistency of claims and its

efect for both processes will be derived and investigated. Numerical examples for

INAR(1) process are also provided. |
