PLAY IDENTIFICATION FOR PALEOGENE SYN-RIFT SEDIMENT IN DONA AREA EAST JAVA BASIN
East Java Basin is one of the largest hydrocarbon-producing basin in Indonesia. With the main reservoir targets concentrated on the Kujung Formation, Ngrayong Formation, and Tuban Formation, this basin has the potential to be further developed by exploring the syn- rift Paleogene sediments. The purp...

The study is rely on 2D seismic data dan two well data that penetrate Ngimbang Formation in Dona Area. Seismic stratigraphy interpretation is used to understand the relationship and distinguish each tectonic system tracs rift initiation (S2), rift climax (S3), immediate post rift (S4), and late post rift (S5), based on tectonostratigraphy concept where tectonic forces become the primary control of sedimentation and basin development. To understand the lateral distribution each of depositional environment within the Area of study, a good integration in between isochrone maps, logs, and biostatigraphy data is used. In conclusion, there are two type of play in Dona Area: hanging wall play and footwall play which can be further developed to enhance exploration opportunities in East Java Basin. Understanding the future potential hydrocarbon reserves in the area, a new 3D seismic data acquisition is needed, with Paleogen syn-rift sediments as the main target, to improve the quality of seismic data that will facilitate lead and prospect justification. text |
