Summary: | Hydroxyapatite coating was used to increase bioactive properties and to prevent cytotoxic properties of Ti6Al4V, that have been used for biomaterials. Because of the weak bonding between Hydroxyapatite and titanium, surface modification is needed. In this research, carbon coating was used for surface modification. The result will be compared to surface modification with alkali treatment on titanium. The Hydroxyapatite coating was done with biomimetic method. This research was done by comparation of two different surface modification (with carbon coating and alkali treatment) and dipping time in SBF (14, 21, and 28 days). Characterization test shows that there were apatite growth on the carbon coated sample with XRD's peaks in 31,49o (sample 14 days), 31,385o (sample 21 days), and 31,6397o (sample 28 days). FTIR's result shows peaks for phosphate group (1096-1036 cm-1 and 606-562 cm-1) and hydroxide group (3700-3300 cm-1) for all carbon coated samples. <br />
