The problems are those which are related much to the increasing of the non-productive time which is not needed in a drilling operation, such as loss circulation, kick, pipe sticking, etc. One of the MPD method is constant bottom-hole pressure drilling (CBHP). CBHP was developed in order to do drilling operation more effectively in narrow pressure window zone. This method is applied by keeping the bottom hole pressure to be constant by giving surface back pressure when the circulation is stopped to compensate the friction pressure loss that occur when the mud is circulated. Because of being used in narrow pressure window zone, CBHP is very sensitive to pressure change at the bottom of the hole. The bottom hole pressure is the hydrostatic pressure that is given by the mud either when it is circulated or when the circulation is stopped. Along with the increasing of formation depth, temperature and pressure will be bigger which can affect the mud characteristic. Because of that, temperature and pressure effect on CBHP operation design should not be ignored. text |
