DETERMINATION OF ADSORPTION KINETICS ON ADSORPTION PROCESS OF Cs-134 FROM LIQUID WASTE USING SAND ADSORBENT

Adsorption is one way of handling liquid radioactive waste, particularly the radioactive that has a long half-time, such as Cesium-137. In this study, radioactive substance of Cesium-134 with a concentration of 0,71 Bq/mL was used and sand also as an adsorbent. This research was carried out in diffe...

Description
Summary:Adsorption is one way of handling liquid radioactive waste, particularly the radioactive that has a long half-time, such as Cesium-137. In this study, radioactive substance of Cesium-134 with a concentration of 0,71 Bq/mL was used and sand also as an adsorbent. This research was carried out in different pH, i.e. pH 5, pH 7, pH 9, and pH 11 to determine the condition of optimum working of adsorption. One hundred mL of solution that has been contaminated Cesium-134 flowed into the column that contains one gram of sand. Each one mL of effluent were collected in a sample bottle, then measured their activity using a gamma spectrometer.
