Description
Summary:
The concept of Next Generation Network (NGN) represents a synthesis of existing world of the "traditional" Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) with the world of the Internet. Many of the networks created over the past ten years contain most of the key elements of an NGN. Migration and convergence from the existing technologies end to one new technology carrying various information (data, voice, image, even video) efficiently, scalable, differentiated in one system, and also mobile-accessed, which is NGN.

The NGN interconnection problem is best to be understood. With that in mind, this final project seeks to introduce new models for NGN interconnection that are better suited to the development of future services than the current time, in order to reach conclusions about the best way to implement the model in Indonesia and also to arrange a simple technical plan for NGN in Indonesia.

The arrangement was started with a brief introduction about interconnection theory regarding with PSTN and internet from technical and economic side which was mainly obtained by literature review analytically. At the next section, interconnection model, points of interconnection, dan interworking concept are wrapped in this paper. The suggestion for implementation of interconnection plan seemed to face rough matter at migration process from the traditional networks.

Telephone number allocation or Electronic Number (ENUM) is key to success for Indonesia's NGN deploympent and become challenge for Ditjen Postel on its allocation. Technical first plan is with replace one TDM switch with a combined TDM or softswitch. Once the combined (or separate switch) has been implemented into the network further, access units can be added, then new protocols (e.g. H.248, MGCP, H.323, etc.) can be introduced to the network, that allows the implementation of services like xDSL. Finally new features can be introduced. The most appropriate interconnection charging is compenctation mechanism, which is dual regime with Bill & Keep in the backhaul network and EBE/CBC in the core network.
