Summary: | Sea-level rise can directly impact small islands by causing beach erosion. The threat of beach erosion is caused by the expansion of erosive waves during the high tide. Floating breakwater can be used to prevent the damages on the beach. This research is a field measurement to design measurement and to evaluate the effect of FLOATON BREAKWATER as a moored floating structure to tides, sea currents, waves and water coloumn turbidity. The measurement is conducted by deploying hydro-acoustic Doppler-type device, Nortek Aquadopp Profiler and Sontek Argonaut-XR. Hydro-acoustic device measure the fluctuation of sea level, three dimensional sea currents speed and directions, and water coloumn turbidity. The results obatained by this research showed no change in the value of current speed and turbidity. The floating breakwater does not modify the patterns of currents and turbidity. The usage of hydro-acoustic Doppler-type device has been effective in this research. |
