Summary: | Muara Gembong is known as the largest district in Bekasi region with predominantly area are beaches and coastal with a lot of potential such as fisheries/ponds, ecotourism, and industrial areas. This area is crossed by the River Citarum with four tributaries empty into the Java Sea. It causes abrasion and sedimentation due to the influence of forces of waves, currents, and tides. This condition is getting worse by the increasing activity of mangrove forest conversion which serves as a natural protective barrier to coastal fisheries and industrial land. This study will be discussed about one of the factors causing problems in Muara Gembong, that is the ocean waves. Numerical modelling of the ocean waves is performed by the SWAN (Simulating WAve Nearshore) software using bathymetry data input and wind speed in order to obtain parameters of significant wave height, wave direction, and the wave period. First, sensitivity test of the model parameters performed for the grid resolution, wind speed, timestep, and physical components. The determination of coastal-protective building will be based on the modelling results by considering the sediment along the coast. The results show that the maximum significant wave height of East Season Wind is 0,68 meters and the maximum period is 6,72 seconds with the wave direction is from the east and the southeast. While the maximum significant wave height for West Season Wind is 0,63 meters and the maximum period is 5,56 seconds with the wave direction from northwest. The wave-breaking is located along the nearshore. Thus, the suggested type of coastal-protective buildings are revetment and groins. |
