Indonesia is the largest archipelagic state in the world which has more than 17.000 islands and most of them are small islands. Related to global warming phenomenon, small islands are highly vulnerable to sea level rise. Gornitz (1994) developed a formulation to determine sea level rise vulnerabilit...

Related to global warming phenomenon, small islands are highly vulnerable to sea level rise. Gornitz (1994) developed a formulation to determine sea level rise vulnerability index for costal area of the United State of America. The modelling of vulnerability index for Indonesian’s small islands is based on Gornitz model. The problem is in determining types of variables to measure the vulnerability. In this report, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) method is applied to support us in selecting appropriate variables. The results provide three significant clustered variables. From those clusters, we may choose only 3 variables, in this case one variables from each cluster. text
