Devices for static current measurement also can be used for kinematic measurements by calculating the boat speed (where the static current measurement device is placed) as correction factors for current values that obtained directly from the device to gain absolute current values (relative to the seabed). To get the boat speed, real-time coordinates with high accuration and precision are required. C-Nav which is one of the Diferensial GPS system used to test its reliability in determining the boat speed compared with Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) which is also a system of real-time positioning and has better accuration and precision. Testing is done by evaluating the accuration of coordinates that are generated by C-Nav and comparing the boat speed that are generated by C-Nav and RTK. It is found that the C-Nav can be used to determine the boat speed for kinematic current measurements properly with the boat speed range from 0.80 to 1.68 m/s for the current that has a speed of not less than 0.10 m/s. text
