Papandayan volcano is a volcano which located in Garut regency, West Java. This volcano has 2665 meters height above sea level and lies about 70 KMs from southeast of Bandung city. Papandayan volcano is one of the active volcanoes in Indonesia. One method of monitoring the volcanic activity is the deformation method. In conducting the study of deformation that occurs, the data of observational GPS survey is used. Basically, this survey was conducted to find out the pattern and speed of deformation which occur in Papandayan volcano. From an analysis of then elemets of this deformation, the deformation characteristics of volcano can be found. At Papandayan volcano, the deformation that occurs is influenced by the pressure of the magma inside the volcano. Analysis results found that magma from deeper and shallow area effects the activity of this volcano. In 2003-2005 there were two sources of magma in which the process of inflation occured. In 2005-2008 there was only one source in which the process of deflation occured. In 2008- July 2011 there were two sources of magma in which the process of deflation and inflation occured. In July-August 2011 there was only one source in which the process of inflation occured. In 2003-August 2011 there were two sources in which the process of deflation and inflation occured.
