This is caused by the continuously subduction of tectonic plates that moving to the South and East / Southeast along the Java Trench.<p>The whole plate on Sumatera, from North to Enggano Island is very potential to create big earthquake. Meanwhile, the information about earthquakes on Southern Sumatera is still questionable. For that purpose, subduction in that area needs to be analyzed, especially in Southern Sumatera.<p>GPS has used for many studies of earth dynamics (geodynamics) such as faults movement and also continent plates. And than used to predict the earthquake or volcanic eruption [Segall and Davis, 1997]. Data observations in South Sumatera processed by scientific software, Bernese. Calculates the displacement vector and value of strain parameter, so the degree of coupling in subduction zone could be modeled.<p>Based on calculating process, the horizontal displacement value of observation in Southern Sumatera is 1-6 cm/year with dominant direction to North-East. The degree of coupling value is 33.3%. And deformation Southern Sumatera affected by Sunda Block movements, subduction, and local deformation. text
