Description
Summary:Sulfur oxides (SOx) are the most common contaminants, primarily caused by fuel burning which contains high-sulfur compounds in the form of organic and inorganic sulfur. The most common forms of sulfur oxides are SO2 and SO3, these two forms can cause respiratory problems, acid rain and caused rust on material. SOx air pollution mainly comes from the use of coal used in industrial activities, transportation, and others. Every human activity will produce a different emission loads. The estimated emission issuance of each activity obtained from calculations using emission factors based on the land uses and activities for each region (ABC Emission Inventory Manual, 2008). Spatial mapping using GIS were needed for each land use such as road networks, industrial areas, and housing areas in order to explain the distribution pattern of SOx pollutant to help in analyzing and determining the policy on air pollution control in the future. From the emission loads calculation for each region based on land use using the emission factors, it is noted that the function of land use and population are directly proportional to emission level from pollutant sources generated by human activities. The primary sektor that emitting the most SOx id the industrial sektor (52%), then followed by transportation sektor (42%) and last the residential sektors (6%). Babakan Ciparay district is the highest SOx emitter, and Cidadap is the lowest SOx emitter.
