Description
Summary:On May 20, 2002, the Democratic Republic of East Timor formally declared independence. One of the implications for Indonesia is the reduced total area of both land and sea. In keeping with the integrity and sovereignty of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia it is necessary to ensure the rigor of the border region of Indonesia, in particular the territorial sea boundary in which case it denotes the limits of sovereignty of Indonesia

In this research, the territorial boundaries between Indonesian and Timor Leste is determined using an equidistant principle based on the implementation of UNCLOS (United Nation Convention of The Law of The Sea) 1982.

By using the equidistant principle author tries to set a point and line the base that has not been agreed upon by both countries, namely Indonesia and Timor Leste. The results of this study will get the total area of the territorial sea of Timor Leste for later use in calculating the area of the territorial sea after the release of the latest Homeland Timor Leste.
