Topographic survey has an important role in the coal mining process from the beginning until end. As in coal exploration, topographic map scale 1 : 1000 is needed to determine the elevation of the borehole points in the coal prospecting area so that the spread direction, the slope and estimates of coal reserve can be interpreted properly. In order to get the optimum topographic survey activities, the application of project management is necessary for the individual or company to carry out topographical survey with the principles of efficiency and effectiveness. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> This topographical survey plan includes technical, human resource, schedules and costs planning. Technical plan establish the distribution plan of the measurement zone and the bench marks points planning. Furthermore, the implementation of the project plan consists of measuring the main polygon, detail situation measurements and the measurement of control points. Controlling the topographical survey projects are conducted to anticipate the occurrence of non-technical problems that may occur during the implementation of topographic surveys activities. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The application of project management in the coal exploration topographical survey can produce technical survey plans which used as the basis for schedule, human resources and cost planning. In the preparation of an effective topographical survey planning, reconnaisance survey is required to get the preliminary information which describing the actual condition of the measurement region. <br />
