The incandescent lamp needs high energy waste with short lamp life and high temperature.<p>Fundamental requirement of caf lighting is to attract the attention of potential visitors looking at the building from a distance. Lighting can provide visual performance, visual comfort, pleasantness, and the combination of the three factors. Cost and energy (electricity) is also a consideration to be given in lighting design.<p>For this study, PREFERE72 in Jl. Ir. H. Juanda no. 72, Bandung was chosen as an object study with some reasons as has a complex activity and much enough area. PREFERE72 is a caferesto that has an interior of modern minimalist style with its selling target is for young adult to young family. The facility offered by this caf are library and book store, lounge, stage, restaurant, and up-stair terrace. The main reason of observation for this study is to see the possibility to substitute incandescent lamp with lower energy waste lamp, that is fluorescent lamp. Fluorescent lamp has some advantages as various colour appearance, low energy waste, and low temperature.<p>The object study being observed by quantity measurement, quality measurement, experiment in laboratory of building physics for validation, and simulation with computer program Lightscape 3.2 and AutoCad 2006. The simulation being held to redesign the lighting of the caf using fluorescent lamp without changing the design objective and lighting objective. The results show that fluorescent lamp can be a substitution of incandescent lamp with quite similar atmosphere as the design objective of the object study. |
