The drying process with carbontec, is one way to increase the heat value and its price, is a drying process of low rank coal by coating it with oil residue in an oven at temperature range 150°-350°C inertly. The research is carried out by observing the influence of temperature to the change of rank parameter and maceral physical structure. The results show that in this carbontec drying process, the oil residue can be used not only in disconecting oxygen cluster but also lowers process temperature used. This drying process decrease 80,36% of water content and increases calorific value up to 21,9% and also give new coal with different maceral physical structure. Other results are low water content characteristic and stability against water reabsorbent. text
