However, the fishery resource is not optimally used. One of the problems is the difficulty of determining potential fishing ground. The determination of potential fishing ground is done to overcome this problem. Potential fishing ground could be identified using satellite imagery and numerical modeling. Area of research in this undergraduate thesis is south coast of West Java. MODIS AQUA satellite data are used through the processing of satellite imagery in order to obtain information on distribution of sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a concentrations in January and June. This information is then used to determine Tuna fishing ground. The other method, numerical hydrodynamic modeling, conducted using the Delft3D software to obtain flow information in the research area during the month of January and June. The results from using the combination of satellite imagery and numerical modeling will provide information on high-potential areas for fishing and effects of current on these fishing ground. text
