Summary:The people's demand of Telecommunication is growing very fast, either in number of increment or in variety of services such as voices, data and graphics. Therefore, the telecommunication network should be improved so that it will have greater capacity and better quality . Fiber Local Access Network can meet the requirement due to its excellent characteristics . in transmission fast amount of data at high frequency. High reliability is needed on a local network that has a large capacity. System reliability analysis is very important because the reliability of a telecommunication network influences the : quality of services. Markov model with exponential distribution function is used to support the analysis Passive Optical Network is one of Fiber Local Access Network technologies. In this research the Passive Optical Network was analyzed using factory' s data, because the data from . the site is not available. Passive Optical Network consists of Optical Line Termination, Optical Distribution Network, and Optical Network Unit. The ratio of Passive Splitter that was used in . this research was 1: 4 and the distance were 10 km and 20 km. It can be concluded that the highest reliability of the Passive Optical Network is reached when the distance between Optical Line Termination and Passive Splitter is 6 km and the distance between Passive Splitter and Optical Network Unit is 4 km. The nearer the distance between Optical Line Termination and Optical Network Unit, the reliability will be higher.
