PT RAI is purely using water from Citempuan River without any further treatment. The water quality is not qualified the drinking water standards, hence to fulfill the needs of clean water the company has to build a water treatment plant to increase the quality of company’s product and sanitation. According to The Department of Environmental Engineering Water Quality Laboratory analysis, raw water from Citempuan River has a several unqualified parameters i.e. total solid content, turbidity, color and iron. Based on JICA (1990), to decrease all the parameters above, the water should be treated by coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration and disinfection process. The design of water treatment plant has a capacity about 14 L/s which is known from the amount of company requirement for clean water. That capacity is applicable to support office, cattle, feedlot cleaning, moreover it also required for backwash in <br /> <br /> <br /> filtration process and chemical dissolution. Further to the experiment results, raw water from Citempuan River needs 20 mg/L PAC for coagulant with the velocity of particles about 0.00022 m/s. From the results, the sedimentation tank will have dimension 6.3mx2mx3m with using plate settler. text
