Description
Summary:Given the importance of the calculation of the amount of biomass on the forest for analyzing climate change and environmental sustainability, it is expected that no method of calculation of the amount of biomass in a timely, efficient, effective and efficient good effort, cost, and time. Knowing the amount of forest biomass can also be used as a reference for taking policies related to issues of global warming and climate change. In fact there are many methods used to calculate and estimate the amount of biomass, but in these methods there are some advantages and disadvantages. Biomass calculation method is commonly used the method of direct calculation on the field (in situ), but the method of calculation of biomass as it has many disadvantages, among which were expensive and a very long time if the calculation is done the forest biomass is a very broad. Therefore we need another method of calculation of biomass that can be done to cover the shortfall. The method to be used is a method of remote sensing using satellite radar technology that is currently undergoing rapid development. To doing these calculation of biomass by using this method, polarimetric SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) data are needed. The results in this study shows that the method of calculation of the biomass by using polarimetric SAR can estimate amount of biomass in forests, plantations and other land cover areas.
