Summary: | The objective of this laboratory study is to observe how much oil can be recovered from a synthetic HEC-AM-injected core and compare the result to the one recovered from water and HPAM commercial polymer.<p>From the reology measurement in the laboratory, it can be concluded that HEC-AM polymer solution is a non-newtonian fluid. For the HEC-AM injection, a solution with a higher concentration than a commercial HPAM polymer solution is used to reach certain value of viscosity. From the observation it is proven that HEC polymer solution is more resistant to salinity change under 20000 ppm. For core set 1, the amount of recovered oil is very low, it is possibly caused by a high water saturation which made the oil more difficult to flow. Meanwhile, the value of recovery factor from the HEC-AM injected core is very high which possibly caused by the existence of channel that cannot be corked by the polymer molecule. For core set 3, the recovery factor observed is higher than the polymer-injected core, this is also most possibly because of the existence of a channel. |
