Description
Summary:Population is one important aspect in development planning. The need of information about the population is not enough only by forming the textual data, but also requiring spatial information in its development plan. One of the main indicators that can provide a picture of population is population density. Population density will provide information about population distribution. In Indonesia, data of population density is presented by BPS (Badan Pusat Statistik). However, the presented data has only administrative and textual presentation that can’t be considered as the representation of the actual conditions. Therefore, it is necessary to have a representation form which can not only display the data but also present the actual spatial conditions. Spatial information about the population can be obtained by remote sensing satellites and it is possible to model the density distribution using this technology. In the perspective of residents, though the object that can be identified using remote sensing is too small, it can also be identified by the population settlement patterns or other factors of the population that is shown in the image. Population density is number of residents occupying a certain area. One of the factors that is suspected has influence in population density distribution is the large of the area. To be able in modeling population density distribution, it is necessary to analyze the relationship of the suspected factors affecting the population distribution in an area. This is important so a mathematical model of the population distribution can be determined. This study uses data from Quickbird Satellite and regression analysis methods to determine the population density in Sub-District Tamansari Bandung.
