Description
Summary:To get the results of depth measurements with good accuracy, then all the data of the measured depth by using the echosounder should be given the correction to avoid many mistakes. One of the mistake that had a major influence on the results of depth measurement is an error caused by the acoustic wave velocity changes that occur because of differences in salinity, temperature and pressure proportionally to the increasing depth. There are several methods that can be used to determine acoustic wave velocity correction. The methods are, using barcheck method, tabulation method based on direct observational data of sea water physical condition (temperature, salinity and pressure) and using the echosounding correction tables that have been available. This thesis will discuss about the comparison of the three methods of determining the acoustic wave velocity correction that has been mentioned and to determine the ability of each method.
